Maine’s Kennebec Valley region’s takes its name from the mighty Kennebec River—the heart of this spectacular four-season destination. Made up of Kennebec and Somerset Counties, the area is known as a winter outdoor recreation paradise. Communities across the region offer well kept trails for Nordic skiing, snowshoeing, and fat biking. Near endless miles of snowmobile trails are maintained by local snowmobile clubs and connect with Maine’s Interconnected Trail System (ITS) allow adventures to travel across the state. Last but not least, the whole family will enjoy winter events, like the Somerset Snowfest and Ice Fishing Derbies.

Throughout the year, visitors will have near-endless choices of things to do. Hike, bike, or ATV on miles of remote trails. Fish, paddle, or raft on our rivers, lakes, and ponds. Those interested in food, shopping, the arts, and scenic drives will not be disappointed. Waterville is top arts and food cities, while many smaller towns across the region are hot on its trail.
