Welcome to the official website of Maine's Kennebec Valley Tourism Council (KVTC). The KVTC has created this privacy policy in order to demonstrate our firm commitment in privacy for our website users. Because visitors to our website are important, we do not capture personal information about them without permission. We endeavor to collect only the minimum amount of non-personally identifiable information needed to meet the purposes for which the website was created. Please note that this policy may change from time to time, check this policy periodically for any updates. This policy is effective starting October 1, 2014.

USE OF THIS POLICY The KVTC is the official tourism promotion organization for Kennebec and Somerset counties and operates this website using databases and technology shared with the Maine Office of Tourism (MOT), a government agency for the state of Maine. State and local government agencies may have their own privacy statements posted on their sites, these policies take precedence over this policy for visitors to those sites. This site contains links to other sites. Please be aware neither KVTC, nor MOT is responsible for the privacy practices of other websites. We encourage our visitors to be aware that our privacy policy does not extend beyond this website and that users should read privacy policies of the websites they visit and be cautious about sharing personally identifiable information without a clear understanding of how their information will be used.

All information collected on the website will be treated the same as any written communication and is subject to the confidentiality and public disclosure provisions of 1 MRSA Chapter 13.

The information we collect is used to improve the content of our web services and help us understand how people are using our services. We analyze our website logs to continually improve the value of the materials available on our site. The information in our website logs is not personally identifiable, and we make no attempt to link it with the individuals that browse our website. Some of this statistical information, such as a running count of the number of visitors, may be displayed on the website.

Unless otherwise required by law, it is the intent of the KVTC to limit the scope of distribution of personally identifiable information. However, on occasion the KVTC will distribute user's names, physical addresses and other related demographical information from individuals or businesses (hereinafter "information") to the following parties to aid further promoting growth in state tourism:

    At KVTC's discretion, beyond fulfilling the transaction for which the information was supplied, KVTC may use the information for aggregate analysis. At the KVTC's discretion, information may from time to time be shared within the Maine Office of Tourism for KVTC purposes.
    At KVTC's discretion, information may be supplied to KVTC contractors for KVTC purposes.
    Name, physical mailing addresses (street or PO box, city, state, postal code, and country) and survey data such as season of interest, month of interest, activities of interest and source of request, entered by visitors into this website may be provided to KVTC's tourism related partners for follow-up mailing of vacation planning information only. A KVTC representative may contact you as part of KVTCs on-going customer service evaluation; or, when you have expressed an interest in a particular service offered by KVTC. A KVTC representative may also contact you via email with announcements regarding new features on this website, marketing surveys, or special offers that match your interests. All KVTC electronic messages/email offer an address to opt out of any further mailings.

KVTC intends that the information provided through this process will be utilized by the receiving entities described above, for purposes designed to promote Maine's Kennebec Valley as a travel destination.

KVTC retains the right to cease sending information through this process to any and all of the receiving entities described in section above at any time whether for cause or convenience.

KVTC is not responsible for the distribution policies of its partners.

EMAIL MESSAGES Any email messages sent to the KVTC will be treated the same as written communication and may be subject to public inspection, legal disclosure, and archiving before they are destroyed. Email or other information requests sent to the website may be maintained to respond to a request, forward a request to the appropriate agency, or provide the website developer with feedback. Any email addresses submitted by the visitor to the website will not be used by third parties for marketing purposes. This policy extends to email addresses provided to KVTC by third-party organizations including but not limited to the Maine Office of Tourism and its contractors.

Information provided by the visitor through electronic forms will be considered to be voluntarily provided and will be treated in the same manner as information provided in written or verbal form. This information may be shared with another state agency for appropriate action and may be subject to public inspection, legal disclosure, and archiving before it is destroyed.
