Spring

Early Spring in Maine's Kennebec Valley is known for its characteristically unpredictable weather. But no matter what Mother Nature comes up with visitors will still find a variety of events and activities to fill their days. Soak up Maine’s rich culture and history in an area museum. Cheer on a team of sled dogs in Jackman at the Sled Dog Sprint Race Northeast Championships or as the season progresses head out for some fly fishing fun.

In March, Maine Maple Sunday is a statewide event during which dozens of facilities open their doors for visitors to see maple syrup-making in action and offering samples of the delicious treat, usually free of charge. It’s a fun day to enjoy with the whole family, as many farms offer activities like tours of their animal barns, pony rides, and even hayrides.

Visitors who seek a slower pace can enjoy a drive as the region greens, the flowers bloom, the weather warms, and the spirit is rejuvenated.
